Hello parents and students, 


I hope everyone is enjoying  their weekend, I am pleased to inform you that Ms. Gray is now able to return and will begin her transition back into the Senior Kindergarten class on Monday May 6. Ms. Gray and I  will both be in the class for a transition period.

 Just at quick reminder students need to be in their customs on Monday 6, 2019. Customs must be  : 

Both boys and girls can wear, 

T- Shirts: 

  • Black or brown  plain  T- shirts. 

Pants: 

  • Black or brown pants. 

We are trying to imitate the "orphan's" from the movie "Annie." 

Please type in "Annie the orphan movie dressing custom" on  the YouTube search bar. 

It will be the First Video Posted.


Also, if you would like, feel free to add  "make- up" on your child to make them look "dirty." We Are Days Away From The CONCERT! 

It is  approaching and we are very exited to showcase all of our hard work! We would like to formally invite you, your family, and friends to the JK-2 Hollywood Land Performance! Everyone is welcome to attend both performances of 12:00pm and 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 7th.


Please note some important information regarding the evening:

- As parking is limited at the dome, a shuttle bus for all parents will be available beginning at 6:00pm from SJA to the dome and then from the dome back at the end of the performance.
-Students need to be in their classroom by 6:00pm sharp, ready for their performance (costumes, props etc.)
- There is no food or drinks allowed in the dome, but bottles of water and dates will be provided for the end of the performance.

- At the end of the performance students can be picked up in their classrooms at SJA. Due to safety concerns students cannot be picked up at the dome.

May 2

Good morning!

Yesterday we were at the Dome for most of the day, sorry for not posting. Today, we went back to the Dome around 9:00 am. We were at the Dome till 10:50, then we went back to school to have our lunch. After lunch, we went back to the Dome for another practice  around 11:40. We then came back to school around 1:30. The students had there snack and then relax with watching a movie.

Arts night is on May 7th. Please continue to practice the song "It's a Hard not life" by the movie Annie.

Also please have your child dressed in their "Art's Night"  custom  for Monday morning. They can wear only the colors Black or Brown. Please have them in plain shirts please. They will be acting like orphans. Please take a look at the movie "Annie" so you can have an idea of what we need.

April 30

Good morning,

Students will start off their day by having circle time, they will go over the days of the week, months of the year, seasons and learned about what type of weather we are having today. After circle time the students were asked to get a buddy and start there morning reading. Around 9:45 we went over to the dome to practice for Art's night.
Moving on to math, we are still learning about measurement. The students were asked to work in their math books on page 254-255. On this page, they were asked to give a good estimate  on how many bugs are on the page, the next page was to simply fill in the missing numbers on a number chart from 1-100. 
Moving on to our UOI, we are still in the unit of Spring, the students were asked to complete another art work sheet that goes with  the theme of spring. 
Towards the end of the day, the student's did not have their french class because we had one last rehearsal for Art's Night.

April 29

Good morning and welcome back!

Today, the students will start their day by having their circle time. During this time the students will go over the days of the week, months of the year, new blends and the weather. Today, the students learned a new blend. Today's blend was "ue." First, the students brain storm all of the words that make that sound. They were able to come up with many words   Wow! They did a great job! Next, we played the "Sound Game." This game involves having cards to read out loud and placing them on where they belong based on the blend.
Moving on to math, the students are still in the unit of measurements. Today we reviewed our math words. Next, we completed a page in our math books page 199. On this page, the kids were asked  to draw different lengths from shortest to longest. 
Lastly, we did an activity where we first estimated on how many blocks it will take to make the same length was your partner. 
I think they had a really fun time finding out each other lengths. 

 Moving on to our UOI time, we are still learning about Spring. We reviewed the four stages of Spring. Next, we worked on a worksheet where we had to write sentence about using our senses during spring time. 
Moving on to our journal time. Today's entry was "Two things that I did over the weekend were...." 

For the students who had good behavior today, they were able to have play time at the end of the day. 
The students did not have French class today, their teacher was absent.

April 26

Good morning!

Students will read the morning message, learn about the months of the year, days of the week and learn their new sounds. Today, the students had there spelling test. Everyone did very well! I will be sending home the test today. Next, the students who finished all of their work for the week were able to have free time . For the kids who did not finish assignment's for the week were asked to finish first then they could have play time.

Moving on to our math time, we are still in the unit of measuring. Today, the students went over our math words. Next, each student wrote down their names on a piece of paper. We wanted to find out who has the longest and shortest name in the class. I think the activity was pretty fun. 

Moving on to UOI time, today we learned about Trees. First we reviewed all of the different signs that we might see during spring time. Next,  we brain storm ideas about a tree. Why do we have trees? Why are they important to us? And what resources  do we get from trees. Then, we watched a short video on fun facts about trees. Lastly,  we worked on a fun art project where they need to finger print leaves on the tree. 
The students end off the day with having there French class and we had more rehearsals for Art's night.

April 25

Good morning,

The students will read the morning message, learn about the days of the week, months of the year and learn new sounds during circle time. Today, we reviewed the sound "ir." We brain storm words that make that sound. The students today took there OWA test. This test is the Ontario Writing Assessment. The students have been taking this test since the beginning of the year. They all did great!
Moving onto our math time, we are still in the unit of measuring. First, the students went over their math words as a class. Next, the students finished two math  work sheets focusing  on weight and length for today. 
Moving onto our UOI time, we are in the unit of Spring. The students  reviewed all of the different things that can happen during spring time. Next, we brain storm ways on how we can take care of a garden. We spoke about all of the different things you may need for your garden. Lastly, they watched a short video on how to take care of the garden. We end this unit with making another spring picture! We are learning about the importance of coloring and making each picture look nice and neat. 
The students end off there day by having their French class and completing a journal entry. Today's entry was "Three things I love about spring are......."

Words of the week are due tomorrow. 
Spelling Test is also tomorrow.

April 24

Good morning,

The students start off there day with having circle time. Students will learn about the months of the year, days of the week, learn new blends and learn about the weather changing. Today, the students learned a new blend "ir." We first brain storm words that have that sound. Next, we watched a short video on more words that also make that sound!  We went on our nature walk in the morning time. We had a little scavenger hunt. The kids were allowed to find all of the things that were on their  list. (Sorry I did not have time to take pictures.)
Moving on to math, today the students worked in there math work books on page 191 and 192. We learned about distances today. We completed both pages as a class. Next, the students worked on three pages of measurement examples. 
Moving onto our UOI, we are still in the unit of spring. First, we reviewed all of the nature  signs of spring. Next, we learned about the importance of "Rain" We watched a video on why we need rain and what the rain does for our earth. Lastly, we colored a spring picture as a class. We are working on the importance of coloring. 
Reminders: 
Words of the week are due Friday. 
Spelling Test is also Friday.
Arts Night May 7th
