April 17

Good morning St Jude!

Today, the students start off their day by having there circle time. The students will learn about the months of the year, days of the week, seasons and new sounds. Today, the students learned a new sound "oy." First, they made a list of all the different words that also have that same sound. Next, we watched a short video on more words that make that same sound. Lastly, the students received word cards that I passed out,  they were asked to read it out loud and then to stick it on the proper sound. To end off our phonics time, the students worked in their phonics note books on writing the sound "oy."
Moving onto math, we are on a new unit and we will be talking about measuring. Today, the students went over there math words. Next, we talked about the definition for  "Amount." We worked in our math books. (page 185-186) We did two activities as a whole class. Today we measured things with lining up markers to show the same length as the object.
Moving on to our UOI time, we are learning about the season spring. Today, the students will discuss the different animals that come out for spring. The students listened to a story called "The Hungry Caterpillar." Lastly, the students worked on an art project where they had to make the hungry caterpillar and a background of spring. I think they did a great job!
The students end off there day by having there play time. When lessons are done and everyone has shown positive behavior through out the full day, the students get rewarded by having play time for about 20 minutes.
