February 28

Good Morning. 

Today we are wore pink for Anti Bullying Day. The kids where asked to meet in the gym this morning to learn about anti bullying. We spoke about the importance's of being kind and nice to one another.

After the short meeting we went back to the class to start off our day.  We always start off with our circle time. This is when we go over our colors, new sounds, days of the week and months of the year. Today I read the book "Jumping into Kindergarten" by Julia Cook and Laura A Jana 
The students where able to identify the title, setting, characters, problem and the solution. 

Next we did not have enough time to complete morning centre so I decided to have Math centre for today. Jumping into our math time, I made three groups. The first group included working in there math work book. The students are still reviewing place value for numbers. They work independently on this worksheet.
The next centre was to complete a math chart by coloring in how many squares the number represents. And practicing writing the number words on a white board. 
The third centre included working with numbers as well but carefully tracing over the numbers. 
Jumping into our UOI time, our new community helper that we learned today was a police officer. The students and I brain stormed a list of ideas on what we think a police officers does. Next we watched a quick video about a police officer. Lastly, we completed a quick worksheet as a whole class. 
The students end off there day by completely there journal entry.  There journal entry for today was to define what a Community is. And what a Community helper does. 

REMINDERS: 
Words of the week are due tomorrow! All students have new notebooks now, please make sure they complete it. 
Spelling Test is Tomorrow Morning. I pushed back the test one more day. Also I am sending more an extra copy of the words just in case you misplaced it.

February 27

GOOD MORNING.

What a SNOWY morning we have today.

Circle time is the best time in the morning time. The students went over the calendar, sight words, months of the year and we reviewed words  that have the sound "UR" Next I read the kids a story called "Alexander and the Wind Up Mouse" By Leo Lionni We spoke about the Characters ,Setting, Problem and how did they fix the problem. Next we jumped into our centres.
First Centre included the Reading centre. The students and I went over the little book that was sent home for homework. Please make sure you are reading with your child. I check everyone on who is making progress on there reading. 
Next Centre includes, practicing writing your first and last name. 
Last Centre included playing tic tac toe with a friend. 

Moving on our math time, we reviewed counting by 10s. Today we learned about place value. We completed a page in our math books and finish up a math worksheet together. 

Next we move into our UOI time, we learned about a paramedic. We watched a quick video on what a paramedic does and why they are important to the community. Lastly we made an art work of a paramedic truck 

We end off the day with having our french lesson.

February 26

GOOD MORNING!

Circle time is our favorite time! The students go over there days of the week, months, colors and new sight words for the week. We reviewed our words that have the "UR" sound. We brain storm words then we watch a quick video that went along with our lesson.



CENTRE TIME!!!!!
Our first centre included students to finish up there journal entry from yesterday.

Next centre includes making our Words of the Week out of play dough.

Last centre includes a reading group with me.

Math Time:
We reviewed counting by 10s. Next we worked in our math work books finishing up learning about counting by 10s and forming groups of 10.



Moving onto our UOI time, the students are still learning about different community helpers. The new community helper that we learned about today is a Crossing Guard. The students brain storm different ideas on what they think the job of a crossing guard does. Next we watched a short video on explaining how this community helpers helps the community and keep us safe. Lastly, the students made stop signs to end off our lesson.


The student ended there day with having there French lesson. I let the students have play time at the end of the day today based on Good behavior throughout the day.

February 25

GOOD MORNING! 

I hope everyone had a great weekend! 

The students are back to there schedule for the day. We start off our day with having circle time,we go over our Sight Words, calendar, weather and learning a new sound. Today the kids were able to brainstorm words that make the "Vv "sound. We first brainstorm words, next I played a quick video of more words that start with the letter Vv.



Moving On to......
Centres: Our first centre included writing in our phonics notebooks. The students are practicing there penmanship with writing the sounds "OW" and "IN"

Our next center involves having the students place play dough on letter templates to form the letter. The students really enjoyed this center.
The last centre is with me, the kids and I went over our sight words for the week, we also practice using the words in a sentence.
Moving onto our math time.......
The students reviewed counting by 10s. We worked on a page in our math workbooks, were they had to group items in groups of 10.

MOVING ON to our UOI....... 
We are still learning about our community helpers. Our new community helper that we learned today is a Framer. The students and I went over all of the different kids of animals that belong at the farm. After we finished making our barns, I ended the lesson with reading story called "Big Chickens." 





The students end off the day with writing in there journals. The journal entry for today was "My friend and I......"

February 22

Good Morning!! 

Every morning the students are welcomed to the circle area where they learn there days of the week,months of the year, weather and listen to a morning message. Today, we reviewed words that have the sound "AR" and the sound "OR." We brainstorm more words that have that sound.

Moving into our Phonics the students took there Writing Task test. The students needed to draw a picture of there family and write about there family as well. I am looking for great sentences, great spelling, good penmanship and labeling who is who in each family. Test will be graded today and will be sent home soon.



Once each student is done with there writing test they have the option to go into there centre.

Centre  for today include:

Making letters with play dough.
LEGO TIME.
Completing there journal entry of " What I learned about a doctor is..."

Math Time:  TEST DAY, students will be working on there test. GOOD LUCK!!!!



UOI: We will be reviewing our community helpers and also learning about a new community helper which is a NURSE. Next, students will be taking a vote on what they want to be when they grow up. Then they will draw a picture and explaining  why they want to be that when they get older.

The kids enjoyed there French lesson and then we end with writing in our journals. "What I learned this week is...."

February 21

GOOD MORNING! 

The students are enjoying our new circle time area were we are reviewing our sight words, calendar, weather and days left still school. The students learned a new blend today and it is "OR." The kids first brainstorm words that they can think of that have the same sound as "or." After they brainstorm, the students watched a quick video or more words that have the same sound as "or."


READ A LOUD BOOK: 

The students and I are really enjoying moving around to each centre  Placing them into centre  provides each students with different learning skills. By placing them in small groups helps each student with communicating to different students they  may not speak to often, teaches them to work independently and lastly showing them that learning can be fun even when you are playing an activity.


PHONICS 

My first centre includes, students working in there Phonics notebooks, they will be working on there penmanship by writing the blends OR and UR.

My next centre includes, reading with me. The students will start writing there words of the week in there new notebooks! The students wrote there words 4 times each. Later for homework they will finish up writing sentence for each word.




The last centre includes, LEGO TIME! I have at least one centre which it only includes per fun! They enjoy working together and respecting each other buildings.


Math Time: Reviewing Telling Time.
Lesson
Activity, the students played a game called "Who has ___ O'clock?" This was a fun game where the students will ask who has what time and the student who has the correct time will go next.



UOI: We reviewed learning about the community helper a teacher and a post man. The next community helper we learned today was a doctor. I had the students first brainstorm on what they think a doctor does. Next we watched a short video on a doctor and there important roles to society. We next completed a worksheet.


The students finished there day with having there Music lesson, and finishing up any work they did not finish this morning.

February 20

GOOD MORNING! 
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOES OUT  TO SAHANA !! 




The students start off with there morning circle time, where we include days of the week, months of the year, weather and how many days left till school. We also reviewed our "AR" sounds.
Words of the Week are due Friday!!!! 

Centers: I placed the students back into centers of three groups.
 Reading table will be doing a worksheet and finishing reading our book with me.
 The next center will have the Logos station.
 The last center the students will work in there phonics book with writing the sound "AR."



Math Time: Our math test for telling time is coming up!!!!  The students will review telling time by working on there worksheets. Lastly, we will be finish math by working on an activity sheet called "Snow Man."




UOI
The students are reviewing Community Helpers. We learned about the community helper the "Teacher."  The students were given a coloring sheet to finish for homework.


Towards the end of  the day the students enjoyed there French lesson. We ended class  with celebrating with Sahana for her birthday by coloring in our new coloring books given by the birthday girl!

February 19

GOOD MORNING,

The students start with their  "morning circle time" where we learn about "the days of the week, months of the year and whats the weather like today." JUMPING INTO OUR PHONICS:

The students made list of words that have the same sound of "Ar."
The students also watched a short video on words that have the "Ar" sound.

STILL IN OUR PHONICS PERIOD;
I placed the students in 3 different groups (in no particular order) where I will be able to work in SMALL groups with each student. This gives me more insight on were each student is in the scale of SK learning.

3 GROUPS INCLUDE

ONE CENTER: Blocks, I asked the students to build with Legos.



SECOND CENTER: Phonics Books, students will work in there work books and complete there page of sounds of  OA and  OO.



THIRD CENTER:  Reading Group, this group is a reading center were I will be reading along with the students and completing  Reading Comprehension Strategies Worksheets. The students and I will be reading "The Yellow Moon."



Math:
* STUDENTS WILL HAVE A MATH TEST THIS FRIDAY  ON TELLING TIME  2/22/19

The students will be doing a lot of Reviewing on "Telling Time."
Students completed Work sheet called PART TIME,  they drew the two hands on the clock to show the correct time.

During our UOI time the students will be learning about differnt kids of Community Helpers. The first community helper we learned about today was the Post office.

Students watched a short clip of fun facts about the Post office and how delivering mail works. Later, students wrote letters to there friends and role played delivering and receiving just as they watched in the viedo.








We ened off the day by writing in our journals. The topic for today was " Three wishes I have are..."

The students enjoyed their French and Music Class at the end of the day.

February 14, 2019

Happy Valentines Day ! 

Love is in the air! The students today were able to pass out there Valentine's day cards to each student during the morning time. Next, they made special cards for there parents and love ones at home. Lastly, they ended with making valentines day bags for there cards to put them in and to bring it home. The kids really enjoyed making these arts and crafts for there family. 
Throughout the day we had many activities happening. Students who paid to make heart cookies were able to make them this afternoon. I hope they taste just as they look. =) 

During our UOI/Math time, we reviewed our patterns with finishing a Valentines day worksheet. 
The students ended off the day with having our snack, french lesson and then watching a Valentines Day movie.
