March 7

Good Morning.

The theme for today is "Sports Wear." The students were allowed to wear there favorite sports outfit for school. I think they look super sporty!

Starting off our mornings with circle time, we review our sight words, calendars, weather and new sounds. We are still reviewing words that have the same sound as 'ear.'

Moving onto our centres, the first centre is the reading group. We went over the pages that were sign for homework and after that we  started reading new pages from our booklet. Please again make sure you are reading with your child for at least 10 minutes a day. It definitely makes a huge difference when they come prepare to read with me in this group. So far everyone is doing Amazing!

Our next centre includes the students starting on there new journal entry, today's entry was to "tell me what they want to do today during school."

Our last centre includes working with blocks. The students had free time in this centre they were able to build anything they like.

Moving onto our math time, we are now learning about nickles. The students and I discussed its worth and what a nickel looks like. I introduced a new money song to the kids. They seemed to really like it. Take a minute and ask them to sing the money song. I'm sure you will find it funny. Also we worked on three different worksheet that forced on counting b y 5s and counting the nickles.

Moving onto our UOI times: Our new community helper that we learned about was the dentist. Students listened to a video to find out  more about what a dentist does on the job. At the end the students finished a quick art worksheet by shorting out what is "good" and what is "bad"for your teeth.

At the end of the day the students enjoyed there french class and their music lesson. The students are doing amazing in my class. Thank you all for your love and support that you have shown me. We will finish off the year strong!

Good Morning,

Today's theme is wacky Wednesday, the kids are able to dress up in wacky clothing if they choose to.

This morning we started off our day with having our circle time, we go over our sight words, colors, new sounds and the calendar. Today the students will learn a new sound of "ear". They were able to brain storm words that make the same sound as "ear." Next, we watched a short video on other words that have the same sound "ear."

Moving onto our Phonic time, we continue working in our centres. The first centre includes a  reading group with me. Every morning we go over a new page in our "Learn to Read" book. Please make sure you are reading with your child for at least 10 minutes of the day. They are learning how to mark there "short" and "long" vowel sounds over the words.

 Next centre is working in there phonic notebooks. The students are practising their penmanship by writing there new sound "ear." After they finish they can move on to  finish there vowel worksheet from yesterday.

 The last centre includes working on a puzzle as a team. The students where asked to work together to complete the puzzle. I think they did a great job working together.

Moving onto our math lesson, the students are still reviewing the worth and characteristics of a penny. We worked on one worksheet about pennies. 

Moving onto our UOI. The new community helper that we have learned today is a veterinarian. First the students brain storm ideas of what they thought a veterinarian's job is. Next, we watched a short video that explained facts about this job. Lastly, the students and I came up with writing three sentences about a veterinarian. 

Towards the end of the day the students had there french lesson and lastly we end off the day by having reading buddies until home time.

Good Morning.

Today's theme was to dress like a super hero or a princess. It was great to see everyone dressed up.

Everyday the students get ready for our circle time, where we go over our sight words, colors, sounds and words of the week.  Instead of doing centre this morning, I decided to have a quick whole group learning. Today the students reviewed long and short vowels. I have notice that most of the students know there vowel sounds but I've also notice that some students need a quick review. So as a class we worked on a Vowel Work Sheet.

 For the students who needed extra help, they were able to work with me separately at my desk.

Moving onto our math time: we were surprised by Mrs. Gray who came to visit the students!!!! It was so good seeing her. She is doing well, and we are all hoping she will return very soon. 

During our math time we are still working on how to count pennies. The students worked on a worksheet as a whole group. Everyone seems to  be understanding the worth of pennies.

Moving onto our UOI, we are still reviewing our community helper the fire fighters. First we wrote down sentences explaining what a fire fighter might do for there job. Next, the students worked on a worksheet that reviewed all of the helpers that we have learned so far.  

The students end off the day by having there French lesson and Music lesson. Since every one's behaviour was pretty good, I let the kids have play time at the end of the day.

GOOD MORNING!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. This is the last week together until Spring Break so we are doing our Spirit Week. Today was pyjamas day. The students were asked to come to school in there pjs.

During the morning time we met at the gym for a quick activities to do in our pjs. We had a relay races between classes.

After our morning meeting with the school, the students and I start our day with having our circle time. This is when we go over the days of the week, sight words for the week, weather and also we make sure we change classroom jobs. 

Today we learned about a new sound. The new sound for today was the blend "oi." The students first brain storm words that have the same sound as "oi." Next, we watched a short video of other words that also have the same sound. 

Next we move on to our centers: The first center includes building with blocks. The students were asked to build two towers that have equal sides.

The next center includes reading with me. The students have moved on to a new book. This book is called "I Learn to Read." The students will meet with me every morning and we will go over the words as a small group. This book will be sent home almost everyday, (unless different) please make sure you are reading with your kid. I will highlight any words that I think they need to review. 

The last center is writing there words of the week 4 times. 

Moving onto our math time: Everyone did great on there Telling Time Test so we are moving on to Counting Money.To start off our unit a Pre Test was given to the students. This test will help me to see who knows what and what I should be forcing on.  We learned about the value of a penny. 

Moving onto our UOI, our new community helper that the students learned about is a fire fighter. The student were first asked to brain storm on what they think a fire fighter does. Next, we watched a quick video on what a fire fighter does. Lastly, we ened the lesson with making a coloring book about all of the important things we should know about fire safely. 

The students end the day off by having there French lesson and finishing there journal entry. Today's entry was to write two sentences using the words "soil" and "coin"

March 1

Good Morning. 


We have entered into a new month! I hope the weather warms up for us.

 The students and I start off our day with circle time. During circle time the students will review there sight words,  go over the calendar, weather and months of the year. Today we had a Morning Message (different topics that we learn about in the morning) the topic for today was Vegetables. The students where able to identify what is a vegetables and what they do for our body. After brain storming we watched a quick video on vegetables.

Centre Time: Before jumping into our centres we started our spelling test. Please check your child's grades everyone did GREAT!

First centre included reading with me. (Please make sure your child is reading when there little reading book goes home with them)

Next centre includes writing on the white boards. The students were able to create anything that they like. 

Last centre included LEGO TIME 

Math Time: Today we reviewed how to represent a number between 11 and 20 in a variety of ways. We also created an addition and subtraction sentence that results in the number. Lastly we practice adding and subtracting using counters. 

The students ended the day by having there french and music lesson. At the end of every week, I check to see how many "Candy Bucks" (in other word "Points") If a student receives 5 or more points they are able to receive a prize from the prize box. These points are given out based on positive behavior and having a great attitude. If you have any question on how I do my discipline in the classroom please feel free to email me.

Good Morning. 

Today we are wore pink for Anti Bullying Day. The kids where asked to meet in the gym this morning to learn about anti bullying. We spoke about the importance's of being kind and nice to one another.

After the short meeting we went back to the class to start off our day.  We always start off with our circle time. This is when we go over our colors, new sounds, days of the week and months of the year. Today I read the book "Jumping into Kindergarten" by Julia Cook and Laura A Jana 

The students where able to identify the title, setting, characters, problem and the solution. 

Next we did not have enough time to complete morning centre so I decided to have Math centre for today. Jumping into our math time, I made three groups. The first group included working in there math work book. The students are still reviewing place value for numbers. They work independently on this worksheet.

The next centre was to complete a math chart by coloring in how many squares the number represents. And practicing writing the number words on a white board. 

The third centre included working with numbers as well but carefully tracing over the numbers. 

Jumping into our UOI time, our new community helper that we learned today was a police officer. The students and I brain stormed a list of ideas on what we think a police officers does. Next we watched a quick video about a police officer. Lastly, we completed a quick worksheet as a whole class. 

The students end off there day by completely there journal entry.  There journal entry for today was to define what a Community is. And what a Community helper does. 

REMINDERS: 

Words of the week are due tomorrow! All students have new notebooks now, please make sure they complete it. 

Spelling Test is Tomorrow Morning. I pushed back the test one more day. Also I am sending more an extra copy of the words just in case you misplaced it.

GOOD MORNING.

What a SNOWY morning we have today.

Circle time is the best time in the morning time. The students went over the calendar, sight words, months of the year and we reviewed words  that have the sound "UR" Next I read the kids a story called "Alexander and the Wind Up Mouse" By Leo Lionni We spoke about the Characters ,Setting, Problem and how did they fix the problem. Next we jumped into our centres.

First Centre included the Reading centre. The students and I went over the little book that was sent home for homework. Please make sure you are reading with your child. I check everyone on who is making progress on there reading. 

Next Centre includes, practicing writing your first and last name. 

Last Centre included playing tic tac toe with a friend. 

Moving on our math time, we reviewed counting by 10s. Today we learned about place value. We completed a page in our math books and finish up a math worksheet together. 

Next we move into our UOI time, we learned about a paramedic. We watched a quick video on what a paramedic does and why they are important to the community. Lastly we made an art work of a paramedic truck 

We end off the day with having our french lesson.
